We had to take a break with a Gamer of the Week feature last week as we didn’t think any of you were actually worthy of it. Actually, we were still busy nursing rAge hangovers so decided it was too much hard work to concentrate and decided we deserved the time off.
This week, we thought we’d bring it back with a sneaky ninja type. A sneaky “spawn ninja” type. Whatever the heck that is.
Go ahead. Introduce yourself. Don’t be shy.
Hey I’m Shaun aka SpaWnNiNja ZA. Born and bred in Cape Town but been living in South Korea the last 2 years until about 2 weeks ago. I’m now living in Singapore.
What’s you platform of choice? Why?
I was always a PC player until the 360 came to SA. That’s been my platform of choice ever since. Main reason was ‘cause my mates were also playing on 360. I have a PS3 too but my hands fit the 360 controller better.
Can you remember the first time you ‘gamed’?
The first game I remember playing was Montezuma’s Revenge back on our old XT with a monochrome screen! I think that was back in ’87.
How long have you been gaming?
I guess that means I’ve been gaming for around 24 years?
When do you think you’ll stop gaming?
My guess is never. Gaming time becomes more rare as your body grows older but I’ll always make sure I get at least some time in each week.
Are you a serious gamer? Or do you enjoy a laugh?
I’m there for shits and giggles! I’ve done the whole clan thing a few times before and its just not for me. Rather give me a beer and talk crap and have a laugh!
Singleplayer or multiplayer?
Multiplayer! That been said, living outside of SA does make it really tricky to find time to jam with the boys. That and the lag factor…
Is playing online important to you?
It is. Even if I’m playing SP, it still somehow feels different when I’m playing offline! I also like my achievements to have their timestamp on them.
Are you a member of a clan? Who are they and why?
Negative. As I said before, it’s just not for me. I was original part of S2U (Sack To You) with Dunc The Punk, Haywire and Crossfire. Then they started having babies! I also had some clan time with TP (Target Practice) – although I think only a handful of those original chaps are still there – and also with RIP. The Reapers since moved to the PS3 which ended with me parting on good terms.
Favourite game currently?
I should say Borderlands 2 but I haven’t had a chance to play it yet (my console is still in Korea). Sleeping Dogs was the last game I’ve been playing and I am really loving that! Gimme any sandbox game!
Do you have any hobbies outside of gaming? What?
Of the ones I can mention, I like anything technology! Movies. Music. I guess those are kinda generic answers?? [Yes. Yes it is… – Undead Ed]
You’re stranded on a desert island and a genie grants you five items. Name them:
A game: Rune! Still waiting for a remake of that game!
A CD: perhaps one of the earlier Incubus albums. Or maybe Showbiz/Origin Of Symmetry
A movie or TV series: I find this question insulting
An organic life form: Mila Kunis? Oh wait… A shapeshifter that obeys my commands!
Something edible or drinkable: Fritos, yeah!
What’s the most embarrassing or worst game you’ve ever bought or received as a gift?
I borrowed My Horse and Me 2 from my cousin (and he’s older than me….). In my defence, that was back in my GSW days….
If you were a game designer, describe your ultimate game design.
Super-human sandbox-type game. But not like Prototype… I didn’t enjoy that.
The zombie apocalypse has happened. You’re facing down a ravenous zombie horde (which may or may not include members of ZG in bikinis). What weapon do you grab?
In the aforementioned zombie apocalypse you humans are all toast. Become a turncoat and assist the superior zombies or stay with the soon to be wiped out human resistance?
The humans… I find sexy human females slightly more attractive than their zombie counterparts.
[We do too. We like them for their braaaaaiiiiiiiinnnnssss – Undead Ed]
Thanks for taking the time to answer our silly questions. What game are you off to play now that you’re done?
I guess I’ll just be playing with myself since I’m still console-less for a few more months…
We welcome all gamers, regardless of age, sex, creed, platform or whether you’re human or zombie. There’s no discrimination around here, so feel free to contact us if you are keen to feature in this column in the future at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll think about – after you’ve sent us a sample of your braaaaaaiiiiinnnnsss.
