Gamer of the Week: GijoeJunior

Welcome one, welcome all and welcome to all you zombies in hiding.  Today we kick off a new weekly feature which (and we’ve said this before – can only remain weekly with your support) focuses on you – yes, you – the gamer.  It’s not overly complicated really, we just want to know more about you and what you love – and then we want the world to know too.  Or at least the piece of the world which visits the site.

We start this new feature with one of the youngest gamers we know.  He also just happens to be the son of one of the oldest gamers we know.  Meet Craig ‘FairyGodFather’ Stuart’s son (and all round better gamer than he is) Chad – or GijoeJunior.  We’re pretty sure Craig (a regular feature in our Video Montage competitions and leader of Xbox 360 clan DMW) may have had a desire to influence his son’s answers, but let’s hear what Chad thinks about gaming and being a better gamer than his dad…

Go ahead.  Introduce yourself.  Don’t be shy.

Hi everyone my name is Chad (GijoeJunior)

How old are you?

I am 10 turning 11 on the 4th of July.

How long have you been gaming?

I started gaming about three years ago about the same time as my dad started playing Xbox. But he wouldn’t let me go online because of all the older people swearing.

What made you start playing games?

I used to watch my dad playing games and every now and again he would let me play with him, and I really enjoyed it especially when I beat him. I used to love the Lego games for Xbox. And I guess that I started because of my dad and friends.

Why do you like to play games?

I like to play games because after doing my homework and all my sports I can have fun, My cousin also plays so sometimes I play with him early in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays while my dad is still sleeping. Its also fun to play Xbox when the weather is not nice outside, then me and my dad play split screen.

What platform do you play on?

Xbox, Wii and I really love playing on my android tablet. But i play mostly on Xbox.

What’s your favourite game?

I love modern warfare 3 but still think modern warfare 2 was better, I also play battlefield, I also love to still play Lego star wars and Lego Indiana Jones even though i have finished the game a few times.

When do you think you’ll stop gaming?  When you’re old and grey?

That’s a hard question for me to answer I am only almost 11 so I don’t know.

Do you prefer to play singleplayer or multiplayer?

I like playing with friends but some games can’t do that, but mostly I like multiplayer.

Favourite game currently?

Modern warfare 3, I really like the new maps there are lots of places to hide and sneak up on my dad.

Favourite game of all time?

That is a really hard question because I love all my games but speand most of my time playing modern warfare 3.

What’s your least favourite game?

Dance central.

What’s your favourite food or drink when gaming?

Popcorn and cream soda.

Do you have any hobbies outside of gaming?  What?

I collect a collection of bugs and insects, I love drawing cartoons and pictures of robots and cars, and my dad is teaching me how to make 3D pictures on the computer. I also body board play cricket, hockey and swimming.

If you could make any game, what would it be?

I would love to make a game that takes battlefield, modern warfare 3 and grand theft auto and make it one game so buildings can fall down and you can drive cars or tanks and you can fly planes.

Who’s the better gamer – you or your dad?

I think I am but my dad says he is.

FairyGodFather speaking  now: On a good day the little bugger will wipe the floor with me he loves to screen camp when we play split screen. But I think things will be different as soon as I get his Xbox hooked up.

How often do you beat him?  And does he get mad?

HA  HA HA I think I beat him half the time, yes he always shouts at me and tells me to stop screen camping.

Do you want to be a professional gamer one day?  Or something more “responsible”?

As long as I get good marks at school and do well at my sport then maybe. I only play my Xbox when I have finished all my homework and studied for my tests and done my extra sport training. My dad told me that some of the people in America play games for a living that would be nice, but I still think you need to learn to be something else first so that if someone beats you, you still have a job.

Thanks for taking the time to answer our silly questions.  What game are you off to play now that you’re done?

Dad wants to watch the Rugby so I will play on my tablet for awhile and then I am going to play MW3 I think.

We welcome all gamers, regardless of age, sex, creed, platform or whether you’re human or zombie.  There’s no discrimination around here, so feel free to contact us if you are keen to feature in this column in the future at and we’ll think about – after you’ve sent us a sample of your braaaaaaiiiiinnnnsss.
