Here’s what’s going down at your local cinema this weekend…
The Place Beyond the Pines
Ryan Gosling AND Bradley Cooper? Meet me in the ticket line! And yes, you guessed it, Ryan is once driving. Only this time he’s a stunt rider for a travelling carnival, and he’s traded the car for a bike. But when he connects with an old flame and has a run in with the cops it’s going to take a lot for anyone involved to get their happily ever after.
Scary Movie 5
Really, though, another one? If you didn’t lose interest about two films back and you’re planning on heading out to see this one, expect a few jabs at films like The Black Swan, The Cabin in the Woods, Mama and even the upcoming (heh) Fifty Shades of Grey. Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan put in an appearance as do a bunch of other stars who really should know better.
Fancy yourself an evening in dark with a ripped, hairy man with a penchant for metal? Then look no further. Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine and finding his way in Japan as he battles more than just a pack of dangerous samurai. He must fight for who he is and who he wants to be.
Tyler Perry Presents Peeples
Honestly, this one looks like it’s a rehash of Meet the Parents, with Tyler Perry’s name tagged onto the front for good measure (and all the millions of tickets it’ll sell). Determined to make a good impression, Wade (played by the very funny Craig Robinson – you’ve seen him in The Office) decides to crash his girlfriend’s annual family reunion and ask her to marry him.
Zombie Terri’s Pick
I’ll save Beyond the Pines for a DVD evening in the safety of my own home where I can snivel into a tissue and comfort myself with wine. But I’ll definitely brave the cold weather and sticky seats for that hairy mutant. Also, I’m really enjoying the spate of comic book films. They offer a fun, action packed diversion. Also, grrrrrrrrr.
