Former Diablo III and Heavy Rain Industry Vets Form New Indie Studio for New Arcade Title – Deadlight

New indie Studio – Tequila Works  - comprising of industry veterans with an impressive track record  in the development of games such as Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Diablo III and Heavy Rain, have penned a deal with Microsoft to publish their first title - Deadlight – which is headed to Xbox LIVE Arcade.

In an apocalyptic world where there is no reason to exist, a man crosses the American west coast. Surviving is much more than a daily routine in this original cinematic puzzle platformer. Deadlight is to be released as an XBLA exclusive title in summer 2012.

CEO, Raúl Rubio and Creative Director at Tequila Works had this to offer:

“Our philosophy is to create tasteful things. Our team integrates highly experienced people who still keep the ability to see the world with amazement every day, and enjoy challenging their creative talents”.

“Being published by Microsoft Studios, one of the world’s largest publishers, is a true reward for all the team hard work. The opportunity to work with first-party publisher Microsoft Studios is a dream come true, and shows their commitment in the talent of small independent studios.”

Luz Sancho, the studio’s chairwoman added saying that Microsoft Studios understood Tequila Works’ “spirit” and their attention to detail, and so Microsoft believe in Tequila Works and the way the studio creates.

“XBLA is the perfect platform for unique AAA bets with a character of their own. We want to create something truly special for Xbox 360”, remarked Raúl Rubio.

The first four screenshots got our attention, with clever use of light and colour which seem to create an eerie atmosphere, which is always welcome.

Truth be told, it was the studio’s name that got our attention… but we’re glad it did.
