EA dates some games

Yep, the E3 madness means announcements galore.  This time EA stepped up to the plate and announced some release dates, as well as news of Need For Speed and some Kinect news.

So, for me the most exciting of these announcements was Dead Space 2.  The ‘survival horror shooter’ can be expected on 25th of January 2011.  Then there’s Bulletstorm coming February 22, next year.  EA MMA will come out fighting October 22.  Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, being developed by Burnout developer Criterion, will crash on to consoles November 16.

On to a few war games for the generals out there.  Medal of Honor, which will be released on October 12, will be preceded by a beta on PC, Xbox Live and PSN on June 21.  Bad Company 2 VIPs will get early access to the beta on June 17.  On the subject of Bad Company 2, expect new DLC in the North’s Winter (our Summer), called Bad Company 2: Vietnam…which seems a little like a direct assault on CoD: Blac Ops to me.

Two games that I suspect won’t get me in a lather are Sims 3 and Sports Active 2.  Sims 3 will be out October and Sports Active 2 will be a launch title with Kinect.

Crysis 2 was given a run, first as a 2D demo and then a 3D trailer and, what appears a tentative, ‘holiday 2010′ release date.  Your guess as to when that actually is, is as good as mine.

Finally, shown, but not dated was Star Wars: The Old Republic.  I’m sure more announcement will happen during the course of E3, but to my mind, none of EA’s announcements thus far are particularly earth shattering.
