While Microsoft has decided to do their own “smaller, more localized promotions” this year than attend Gamescom, EA and Sony will be Germany for Gamescom 2012.
EA corporate communications SVP Jeff Brown told Joystiq, “We are definitely committed to Gamescom – love that show and the people who attend it.”
“We’re planning the press conference for the day before the show and will send out invites in the next couple of weeks,” he added.
Sony has been a little trickier to nail down, with Sony America deferring to Sony Europe, and the latter still figuring out an official response. However, Koelnmesse, the organizers of Gamescom, tell us, “Yeah Sony is coming, even though there was a strange article that question marked it a week ago… but they are coming for sure!”
Along with Microsoft, Nintendo has also decided to skip Gamescom this year.
