E3 – the news keeps on rolling in…

…and we’re quite happy to condense it in to manageable bite-size portions for you.

NeverDead was announced by Konami – a “fantasy and horror-influenced” title that sees you fighting the undead.  Oh.  Sounds vaguely familiar…Apparently, the world is under threat from a demonic plague, as you fight waves of ‘unholy creatures’. The main gimmick of the main seems to be that you can repair your body using the limbs and part of fallen enemies.  “For NeverDead, we’ve introduced some truly exciting new forms of gameplay and sword fighting, including a unique healing mechanism originally designed and conceived by former members of Kojima Productions,” explained Martin Schneider, European Marketing and PR Director for Konami. “Their contributions, and those of the development team, have helped forge a great new action IP to add to Konami’s vast lineup.”

Konami also gave a little insight into the gameplay features in Metal Gear Solid: Rising…well a plural of feature makes it sound impressive, but really, it was only the swordplay and stealth discussed. The ‘Zan-Datsu’ cutting concept was shown off at Microsoft’s E3 press conference but it’s now been revealed that along with aiming exactly where you cut, you can either kill or merely injure your enemies with your accurate slicing.  It will also be a stealthy game (‘a kind of hunting stealth’) and the game itself takes place between Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4.

Continuing with all things Konami, Silent Hill 8 was announced too and will apparently remain “true to the franchise’s original roots”.  The storyline sees inmate Murphy Pendleton stranded in Silent Hill after his prison transport vehicle crashes. The game will feature side-quests, which “change depending on the user’s play style”.

Cliffy B (hope he doesn’t mind) mentioned that Gears of War 3 won’t feature Kinect features.  At least not “at launch”…

Sega has promised that they have between 18 to 24 Dreamcast games coming to XBLA.  And that’s about it…no titles named.

And finally, Deus Ex 3 will not have Kinect support. David Anfossi told CVG that while it’s too late to include Kinect support for Human Revolution, he says “maybe that’s something we’ll explore for the next game.”  He also says that there won’t be support for 3D on the console versions, despite publisher Square-Enix recently releasing a 3D edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum.
