E3: Some brief highlights

Halo: Reach will have the Firefight mode, but slightly different to the one in ODST.  It will pack a whole host of new customisation options, such as what enemy types you face, the weapon loadouts, Covenant health and aggression sliders and so on.  Apparently, the Generator Defense mode that slipped into the Halo: Reach beta shortly before it expired was actually a test for Firefight…

Portal 2 got shown off in this here trailer.

On the subject of ‘trailers’, THQ confirmed a movie was in the works for Saints Row, which would be release at the same time as Saints Row 3.  When?  Unknown.

THQ also confirmed Darksiders 2, also to be released at an unknown time in the near (or distant) future.

A few other trailers made an appearance at E3.  Warner released a bloody trailer for F.E.A.R. 3, while 2K showed off a little bit of Mafia II.  The heroes from Marvel vs Capcom 3 got a run in not one, but two trailers…even though the game isn’t expected until Spring (Autumn here) 2011.  A game that seemed to sink into the murky ocean depths, Hydrophobia got shown off a bit, and it can be excepted very soon – as part of MS’s ‘Summer of Arcade’ line-up.

In more Kinect news, THQ announced UFC Trainer, which is pencilled in for January 1st 2011 and will be “a more combative take on the fitness genre than the likes of Wii Fit or EA Sports Active.”

Finally, DJ Hero 2 got demoed at E3 and confirmation of dual turntable support and microphone compatibility.  A list of artists was also confirmed.
