Dota 2 Masters Cup Live 19 to 21 May

Next weekend, eight of South Africa’s top Dota 2 teams will be facing off in Telkom Gaming’s (or VS Gaming’s) Dota 2 Masters Cup.

The event will be played in a ‘LAN’ environment (at the DGL Studios in Midrand) but will be closed to spectators. However, those keen to catch the action will be able to do so via the various streaming options available – Twitch and YouTube.

The action kicks off on 19 May (time to be confirmed) and continues over the double elimination bracket to Sunday 21 May. Up for grabs is a total of R110,000 with the champion securing R44,000 of the prize pool.

The eight teams competing over the weekend include six qualifying Masters teams and two teams who qualified via the Community Shield.

The lead up to the Cup has not been without some level of controversy, including early complaints from the wildcard teams about lack of financial support in getting to the LAN event. This has since been attended to and Mythic Gaming have confirmed support from the organisers.

You can expect our man Chris ‘SargonDotA2’ House to prepare a full preview during the course of next week. In the meanwhile get you diary clear for the weekend of 19 to 21 May as it should be an action packed one.
