Blizzard Entertainment has now confirmed that the external beta for Diablo III will begin in the third quarter of 2011 reports GIBiz. No specific release date has been given for the full version of the game but CEO, Mike Morhaime says Blizzard are doing their best to ensure the game is still released this year despite earlier indication of this not being the case.
Morhaime also says the game is “looking great” and that “the development team is working hard to try and launch Diablo III this year but I want to be clear that we do not have an official release date or window yet. As always we will not compromise the quality of the game in order to hit a window.”
The possibility of Diablo III making its way to consoles is still in question, but Blizzard has previously hinted at the possibility of some sort of spin-off could be under consideration for consoles.
