CS:GO Evetech Champions League and show match announced

Mettlestate – along with their partners Evetech and Lenovo – have announced the Evetech Champions League (ECL) for CS:GO. To mark the announcement, things will kick off with a legends against contenders exhibition match.

The legends team will feature some familiar names, while the contenders will be one of three teams. The team to feature however will be determined by fans in an online poll. Big 5 Esports, Goliath Gaming or Leetpro Esports are in contention in the poll which runs until 25 May. The team that comes out on top as fan-favourite will feature on 10 June when the two teams battle for R10,000.

During the live stream on 10 June, additional details about season one of the Evetech Champions League will be revealed.

The legends team comprises:

  • Andreas “cent” Hadjipaschali
  • Dane “racno” Friedman
  • Jannie “HellHound” Van Niekerk
  • James “zerOchaNce” Wjinberg
  • Riaan “stYle” Van Niekerk

Show Press Release: »

You might remember that in November 2017, Mettlestate, Evetech and Lenovo shared the Dota love and encouraged aspiring Dota players across South Africa to #JoinTheLegion.

Following the success of that event, the trio are at it again – this time bringing the love to the CS community in the form of the Evetech Champions League (ECL), brought to you by Lenovo.

To mark the launch of the ECL, Mettlestate has announced a show match like no other. They’ve rounded up some of SA’s most legendary CS players. This legends team comprises of:

  • Andreas “cent” Hadjipaschali
  • Dane “racno” Friedman
  • Jannie “HellHound” Van Niekerk
  • James “zerOchaNce” Wjinberg
  • Riaan “stYle” Van Niekerk

Now this is where things get interesting.

The legends teams will go up against a new kid on the block, in the form of either Big 5 Esports, Goliath Gaming or Leetpro Esports.

Who decides which new kid on the block will go up against the legends in the show match?

The fans.

At 2pm on Monday 21 May 2018, a poll launched on the Evetech Facebook page which allows people to vote for Big 5 Esports, Goliath Gaming or Leetpro Esports. Voting will remain open until 25 May, where the new kid on the block with the most votes will be announced. This team will then battle it out against the legends for a R10 000 prize!

More details about Season 1 of the Evetech Champions League will be shared during the live show match stream on 10 June 2018 – so don’t miss it!
