Comic Con Africa Has Been Announced

Reed Exhibition and VS Gaming have announced that come September of this year, South Africa and Africa will be getting their own official Comic Con.

From 14 to 16 September 2018, local comic fans, geeks, cosplayers, movie fanatics, as well as gaming and esports supporters and players can head to the Kyalami International Convention Centre  (or Grand Prix Circuit depending on how you view it) for their taste of the Comic Con international franchise.

Comic Con Africa will be detailed further in the future still but we suggest you can expect some highlights that feature at Comic Con’s around the world. Locally though, it seems Nolan North (Uncharted) and Troy Baker (The Last of Us) are on the cards for year one with more to be confirmed.

VS Gaming did announce that both the old DGC and the Masters will feature at Comic Con Africa, as well as a bring-your-own LAN event.

The announcement is an important one for local comic and movie fans but with the VS Gaming attachment bringing esports, it might dilute the traditional Comic Con concept. Of course, those who monitor these things will note that this probably means no VS Gaming at rAge. It is also probably a little awkward for both event organisers given the dates of the two events and rAge following three weeks later.
