NuMetro has sent out a press release which announces the release of a playable demo for the highly anticipated sequel – SUPREME COMMANDER 2. The demo is now available for PC gamers on STEAM. The RTS sequel is published by Square Enix and was developed by critically acclaimed Gas Power Games, who also created SPACE SIEGE and KINGS AND CASTLES.

SUPREME COMMANDER 2 is set 25 years after the end of the Infinite War. The game starts with the galaxy reeling from the recent assassination of the newly elected president of the fragile Colonial Defense Coalition. The members of the Coalition – the United Earth Federation, The Illuminate and the Cybran Nation –blame each other, and the early rumbles of war can be heard throughout the galaxy.

Ubisoft Football Game?! [UPDATED]

Well I’ll be damned!

I thought no other developer/publisher would dare take on the FIFA vs. PES battle. The two titles have been at each others necks for so long now, that both have come up with a decent product. Some years ago a true ‘footy’ fan bought PES without question. Now FIFA has come so far that the choice is no longer a ‘clear-cut’ one.

So what could another developer/publisher bring to the table? Well we may just find out. According to Jeux Video as interpreted by CVG, “Ubisoft is in discussion with a number of English clubs to help consult on a direct competitor to FIFA and PES.”

Apparently Ubisoft has long wanted to move into sports gaming, even “dabbling with football by way of a kids title Academy of Champions and handheld Real Football series. That’s nothing compared to this new endeavor, which would see Ubisoft aggressively attacking the genre with the title purportedly coming out before the end of 2010. If so, we’d anticipate an announcement at E3.”

Go Undercover Within The Triads [True Crime]

Activision kept this one under the radar it seems, but has now confirmed that they are currently working on a new open-world game called True Crime, set for release in autumn in the US. Now the bit that got me interested is that it is inspired by classic Hollywood and Asian cinema style action thrillers. True Crime is being developed from scratch by United Front Games and the story is of detective Wei Shen who infiltrates one of Hong Kong’s notorious Triad crime syndicates… swwweeet!
