The European Call of Duty GM, Michaël Sportouch explains he is confident that Medal of Honor is not a specific threat to Black Ops and that the Call of Duty series has yet to peak… really?
He explained in an interview with MCV that COD is out on multiple formats, it’s got a record market backing it and that it is an essentially great game, which is why Activision thinks Call of Duty: Black Ops should be a smash hit. Furthermore, Activision thinks the series can continue growing its success indefinitely. He explains that “Our [Activision] mission is to continue to grow the franchise and we don’t see a peak at all”. He also thinks Black Ops will benefit from a bigger PS3 and Xbox 360 installed base and that it will be available on more formats.
But Medal of Honor looks to fundamentally be a good game, it has the financial backing of EA – they are multi-plaform and developed by studios with a strong and proven track record – so I would personally not go as far as to say it will not be a “specific” threat. No, I would say it will be a threat, even if it is not the biggest threat.
