The Cape Town Regionals for Black Ops 2 on Xbox 360 has been announced. The tournament is an MSSA sanctioned event and is essentially a console warm up for the Provincial trials which will happen in August.
The tournament is being brought to you by the MSSA, MWEB and GAMES ON, with a few of your local community members on hand to admin and be general busy bodies. Head to GAMES ON on the 11th of May if you are keen to prove your mettle.
It will be a 4v4 event to determine the “best in Cape Town”, and teams or clans with fewer than four players in the Mother City are encouraged to draft in players to be able to compete for the prizes and an opportunity to play against the recently crowned Gauteng Provincial team.
The number of teams will be limited to eight and the cost to enter will be R50 per person. Please note, that MSSA registration will be required to compete against Gauteng, and if you are not yet a member, membership can be arranged at the event on the day. The annual membership fee for the MSSA is R75, and will have you covered for the Provincial trials and Nationals (should you qualify) too.
Full details can be found in the press release below. Cape Town, show your stuff.
Due to the continued and unfaltering support from MWEB, the MSSA’s first City of Cape Town Regional Tournament for Black Ops 2 on Xbox 360, to be hosted by GAMES ON CLUB and Gaming Lounge in Rondebosch shall be held on Saturday 11 May 2013.
The tournament will be an official MSSA event, and the team which wins will be playing to represent the City of Cape Town region against the recently announced Gauteng Provincial team in a battle of “North vs. South” at a date still to be confirmed.
The Regional is however, not for Western Province Provincial colours.
The Western Province Provincial trials will be on the 4th of August, and this Regional tournament is a good way to introduce console teams to the MSSA structure.
Nevertheless, City of Cape Town Regional Colours are at stake, and the winning team will be the first team in South Africa to receive such award.
The tournament will be a 4v4 affair, so it is suggested that teams and clans without enough members in Cape Town get recruiting. The total number of teams will be restricted to eight. It should also be noted that all players will need to be registered with the MSSA.
If you would like to register on the day, this will be possible, but please note that annual membership to the MSSA is R75.00. Entry for the tournament itself will be R50 per player.
MWEB has stepped in and offered prizes for the event to the value of over R3,200.00, which includes Kalahari vouchers to the value of R1,600.00 for the winning team, with second and third place also covered. MWEB will also be offering some spot prizes in the form of t-shirts.
