In a recent interview with ComputerAndVideoGames.com, the Senior Gameplay Programmer Paul Denning suggested that the recently announced Arkham Asylum sequel will probably not be set in Arkham at all.
He said “I think you’re probably right in that it’s almost run its course. We did pick a selection of buildings that we thought would fit the (original) game well. You could quite easily point out that there are various things that you wouldn’t usually find in an asylum especially on an island that’s supposedly self-contained.”
Fortunately the series was not tied down to a movie plot, and our much loved Dark Night is an inhabitant of one of the most exciting fictional cities- Gotham. Paul Denning said about Gotham: “fantastically realized fictional city and there are so many places that would be probably be ideal for gameplay and great to explore.”
The debut teaser trailer for Arkham Asylum 2 did not really look like Arkham, but with Rocksteady paired up with the stunning canvas that is Gotham, I am sure we can expect another intriguing locale.
