Blazblue: Continuim Shift | Sneak peak at MCM London

Participate in Kyle ‘Kyzertron’ Dixon’s Guinness World Record attempt, to score the most wins in a single hour. The attempt will take place between 1pm and 2pm on Saturday the 30th of the October. The sticks used for the attempt will be BlazBlue branded Hori Sticks, courtesy of Hori.

Guess what was deep in the latest PS3 firmware update

With the latest Playstation 3 firmware update the main purpose was for 3D gaming. However deep within that firmware was reportedly code to allow Facebook to be more deeply integrated into the console.

Facebook is somewhat limited at the moment as it uses a console as a proxy, so it can access your data and show you who else is on both Facebook and the console, but most of the abilities are little more than a less sophisticated version of what you seen on your computer.

Fight Night, Tekken and Super Street Fighter nominated for ‘Fighter of the Year’

Ten heavyweight contenders are stepping into the ring to battle for the prestigious golden belt of the Fighting Game of the Year award at this year’s Golden Joysticks. Celebrating its 28th year, the people’s gaming awards are asking fans to name their ultimate fighting champion.

In the red corner are veteran series like Tekken 6, Fight Night Round 4, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010, Super Street Fighter IV and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny. In the blue corner warming up are UFC 2009 Undisputed, Punch-Out!!, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast and Tatsunoko VS. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.

Such a spectacular line-up of games is a clear indicator of the extremely tough competition in this brand new category for the Golden Joystick Awards 2010.

Jordan: “I’m really impressed with the authenticity of NBA 2K11”

2K Sports announced today that NBA 2K11, the top-selling and top-rated NBA video game simulation franchise*, is available now on Xbox 360, PlayStation3, PlayStation 2, PSP and PC. The game will be available for the Wii system from Nintendo in mid-October. This season, play as Michael Jordan for the first time and relive his greatest moments with the Jordan Challenge in NBA 2K11. PES 2011 DLC coming next week

Konami today announced the content of its first DLC for PES 2011, which will be available on 12th October.

Available free to PlayStation3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD users, the download will bring the player roster files completely up to date, while clubs that qualified for the UEFA Champions League Group Round, will be added to the game’s dedicated mode. A number of team kits have also been updated in line with their current use, and four more licensed boots have been incorporated.

Black Ops on-track to become all time most pre-ordered title

Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops is on target to be its all-time most pre-ordered title. This is according to giant US retail chain – GameStop,  who revealed this whilst announcing a prize sweepstake for anyone pre-ordering the title from GameStop.

Merchandising Senior VP, Bob McKenzie revealed that GameStop is tracking to all-time, record reservations on Call of Duty: Black Ops, and that GameStop are ahead of where they were with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which incidentally holds the industry standard.

Burton on Kinect: “You don’t need buttons”

The biggest criticism Microsoft’s Kinect has received has been regarding the lack of a controller of any sort, and therefore no buttons. This is obviously something that has always been an integral aspect in gaming. Interestingly, Rare’s Nick Burton revealed in an interview that he finds it a little frustrating when people say you need buttons – he says ‘no, you don’t’.
