2upGamers is promising that Judgement will be coming at this event. And it is, if you excuse the American spelling of Judgment…
The event has made a slight return to the naming conventions of old, with the 10 May event being dubbed ‘Judgement Night’ – no, Emilio Estevez will not be there trying to survive Denis Leary. The third event to be held at Trinity (a record for consecutive stays at any venue) promises to be a jam packed affair.
Confirmed guests at the time of this article going live are Xtreme Gaming (a new Cape Town tournament organiser), cosplayers KomboKitten & Yamaki, as well as a very special announcement by Glenn Alexander about 2upGamers itself. Nintendo SA‘s Mandy Meredith will be in the house. More are to be confirmed still, but it’s all about the socialising and gaming isn’t it?
And the gaming certainly won’t disappoint. The MWEB Forza 4 Celeb Challenge makes a return with the celebs being Sports Jocks vs. Sports Presenters. We’ve heard rumours about who they might be, but we’d rather wait for confirmation. The challenge is not just restricted to celebs, and you can enter too to stand a chance to win an advanced driving course. FIFA 13 will be making a return (as almost always), but with a small twist. The tournament will run on both Xbox 360 and PS3. The finals will be played as a home and away final over the two platforms, and there are Gunnars sponsored by Mad Catz up for grabs.
Cape Town Showdown will again be hosting some virtual butt kicking with Tekken Tag and Street Fighter. There is a fighting stick up for grabs sponsored by Mad Catz. A new addition to the evening is the Couples Doubles. This will be specifically for couples who attend the event and will be played on Kinect and Move, so you can imagine what you will need to be doing… So get some practice in, and you can win some couple related prizes.
Yours truly will be running what is being dubbed the Zombie Pit. This rather ominous sounding event is actually “just” Gears of War: Judgment free-for-all and there is a pair of Gunnar glasses up for grabs (thanks to Mad Catz), along with more prizes to be confirmed. On the night, Gioteck headsets will be available. However. if you would like to bring your own (along with your own controller) please feel free to do so. Samsung 23″ monitors are supplied by the good people at Rectron.
Other – new and returning – features on the night include the Nintendo Wii U Experience, the Anime Trading Station, Cosplay, EMA Technologies latest gadgets & PCs, as well as Readers Den being in the “house”.
As always, the 2upGamers juggernaut keeps growing, and this event should prove to be the best one yet. Don’t be the one to say: “I wish I had been there.”
